Colds, Virus, Flu, Dry skin – staying healthy during winter can be a struggle. To add to this when you are living with a chronic illness your body is already working overtime to maintain a somewhat healthy status. Therefore, getting “sick” can really throw your body out of whack.
Fortunately, there are some things you can put into play that can help you survive winter;
1. Wash those hands
Repeatedly this is a proven way to help keep those nasty germs from spreading, yet many of us do not wash our hands often enough to stop the spread. Now whilst you cannot control what others do or how frequently they wash their hands what you can control is your own personal hygiene. Keep a track on time, for best results wash your hands to at least 20 seconds.
2. Keep that skin moist
Your skin is your body’s largest organ and is the protective barrier from inside the body to outside the body. Skin protects your body from UV, chemicals and bacteria. To keep skin healthy during winter remember these two steps, exfoliate & moisturize.
3. Hydrate
Considering up to 60% of the human body is made up of water, it is important to keep those fluids from evaporating. The dry cold air in winter can cause dehydration, which then can leave you tired and more acceptable to colds/flu.
4. Hibernate
Sleep glorious sleep – does wonders! If you need a little help with sleep, I find essential oils can do the trick. My favorites include Lavender Oil, Ylang, Ylang and Chamomile Oil. Just put a few drops in a diffuser next to your bed and WA-LA
