Netflix and Stan

If there is, one thing I am good at it is binge-watching shows.

You name it, most likely I have probably watched it, and if I have not I am now about to.

Netflix and Stan have been my besties when I am not feeling 100% and they are brilliant when you are sitting around in the hospital waiting for your treatment to be done with.

So without further a due, let me tell you my favourite shows;

1) The handmaid's tail

The girls at work were raving about this one and now I know why... I was hooked on the first episode and as much as I was in disbelief, I was addicted and my mind began to wonder. What if this actually happens.

I do not want to give too much away but it is about fertility being rare, war, rape and being held prisoner. It is so messed up especially the birthing scene (trust me you will know what I mean when you see the birthing scene) but it is one you just have to watch.

Available in Stan

2) Unbelievable

This one is only available for a limited time. Again, it is based on rape. Why so many rape shows, do not ask me why I am digging the rape shows.

This is based off a true story, which makes this series even more terrifying. It captures the story of two detectives from two different districts who realize in order to capture a serial rapist they will need to work together. Really gripping stuff.

Available on Netflix

3) The mule

I love watching Clint Eastwood, this old-timer has been on the big screen forever. This movie was based on a true story, kind of funny what people get up to in their ordinary lives. Although I knew what he was, doing was wrong I felt so much compassion. Pulled on the heartstrings.

Available in Netflix

4) Mind hunter

At first, I did not think much of this show until I got a glimpse of it while my husband was watching. It did not take long until I was sitting next to him asking questions.

Yep, I'm that annoying person who asks questions. Like, but why did that happen, who is that person, what is happening...

It is based on two detectives who try to get in the mind of serial killers. They interview serial killers and try to discover what makes them tick.

Season 1 was much better than season two. Season 2 dragged on and then when it started to get good that was the end of the season.

Available on Netflix

5) When they see us

THIS! This was absolutely gripping! One of those shows where you are willing to watch past your bedtime because you just have to know the ending. It is based on a real-life event, which shows the injustice a few young boys faced by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was shocked and disgusted that this actually happened in real life. This show is a necessary lesson for everyone about right and wrong.

Available on Netflix

6) You

Season one had me on edge, then came season two and I was mind blown. It's about a guy who has major issues with stalking and possession. However, the way it's portrayed you kind of feel sorry for him as if he's the underdog in his life. Really captivating stuff.

Available on Netflix

7) 60 Days in Prison

Oh Dam! I'm usually not into documentaries however this show had me, hook, line and sinker. I literally binge-watched this over a few days because I just had to watch the next episode, then the next episode, then the next episode. It's a crazy experiment where they put ordinary people in jail for 2 months. They don't really get any special privileges and they have to learn to adjust and really survive.

Available on Stan

8) The Crown

Ok so far I am only up to season two. I wasn't sure if I'd like this show but I am totally inspired by strong women and this show has that. There is a small part in the show where the queen says " I am aware that I am surrounded by people who feel that they could do the job better. Strong people with powerful characters, more natural leaders, perhaps better-suited to leading from the front, making a mark. But, for better or worse, the Crown has landed on my head" and I absolutely love this statement. So often we are surrounded by others who make it clear that they think they are better or could do better. Nonetheless, when put in these types of situations we must keep confidence in our own abilities, they may be better but that is not what matters. What matters is that the responsibility is not theirs.
