To my fellow sufferers from an unpredictable condition, now, the world is starting to understand what you have been going through.
How crazy, that it takes a pandemic for others to really be able to comprehend the fear, anxiety, and panic one feels from an unpredictable condition. Furthermore, the limitations that the condition may offer that completely changes the way you once lived your life.
Too many times when I tried to explain to others my condition it was overlooked with the mindset that well the chances of you dying from it are slim so stop complaining.
Well, how times have changed!
Many people do not have COVID-19, nonetheless, we see them panic and we hear them complain. How amazing is it that some people have to literally be personally faced with the fear of one’s own health before they can sympathize with others.
It goes to show, we live in a society where we care more for one’s self then we do for others.
I still remember when I was first diagnosed with ITP an autoimmune disease where my immune system attacks my own body. I remember, feeling my whole world change.
From that moment, I had to learn and learn fast about my condition, I had to adjust my daily habits, I had to stop doing things I once really loved doing, I had to take precautions, I had to rely on the health system if anything shall happen to me and I had to understand that I now live with an unpredictable condition that does have the ability to take my life.
I faced this and although it was hard, I had to come to terms with it.
I understand, mentally this is a lot to grasp but I guarantee the more time that passes the easier it is to come to terms with the way you have to adapt your life.
For those new to the fear of one’s health all I can say is trust the health system and the health experts! They are your guardian angels.
For my fellow sufferers, I feel you! You already have an illness attacking your body and the fear of another source coming after your already compromised body is petrifying. Nonetheless, we cannot change the circumstances that face us, but what we can do is change the way we react to it.
So True 🙂
